DIRECTOR OF EQUALIZATION

The Director of Equalization is appointed by the County Commissioners and is responsible for discovering, listing and valuing all real property within the county.
We are now located at 300 N Main Ave!!  

Our Office is Hiring for a
Full Time Deputy Director of Equalization
Duties Include but not limited to:
Inspection and valuation of properties
Tracking of sales and sales analysis
Handle property transfers
Assist the public in person and over the phone
Assist with equalization boards and appeals
Work with various computer programs, CAMA system, Bosanova, GIS
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs helpful
Able to receive South Dakota Department of Revenue Assessor Certification within the first year of employment.
Continued education is required to maintain employment.
Benefits: Health Insurance, Vacation and Sick Leave, South Dakota Retirement
Salary: $2845.73/month with quarterly raises and longevity raises added.
Previous experience can be factored in for a higher starting wage

Helpful Information

Our goal is to obtain accurate property information leading to accurate property assessments on all property. This office is responsible inventory of the parcels in Turner County. This property assessment is the tax base for local government funding for all of Turner County including the municipalities, local school districts, townships and various other tax districts such as fire, water and road districts.
The Director of Equalization does NOT determine the property tax. The local government and taxing districts will determine the property tax based upon budgetary needs. The Director of Equalization is responsible for assessing all property at market value to ensure that the property tax burden is equally spread across all taxable property in the county.
